Squash - tactics, skills and endurance!

What is squash?

Squash is an exciting and fast-paced racquet sport played on a special four-walled court. It offers players an intense physical and mental challenge, requiring quick movement, sharp reactions, and clever strategy. It’s a game where two players compete in close combat, hitting a small rubber ball quickly against the walls to outmaneuver each other.

Squash shortened rules (EST) and full version of the rules (ENG).

Everybody can play squash

Regardless of athletic level, it’s suitable for everyone because it’s fun! It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or advanced player, it’s always enjoyable on the court, and there will definitely be situations that make you and your opponent laugh together. Or you can share your impressions off the court with the larger group who came to play and collectively acknowledge that we never leave the sports club in a bad mood! The game’s impact on mental health has also been studied, concluding that playing squash significantly reduces stress levels. No matter what’s bothering you, on the court you simply don’t have time to focus on anything other than the ball and friendly opponents.

It's easy to get started

It doesn’t require much equipment and the basics are quickly learned. However, reaching the top in squash is relatively difficult. Because the better the player and the higher the league, the faster the game becomes where you need to demonstrate your skills between sprints, moving continuously on the court, without longer breaks and sometimes for up to an hour straight. Those who have been involved in the sport for a long time acknowledge that squash requires true dedication from the player to develop their speed, endurance, strength, flexibility, and simultaneously actively working on their mental readiness to harmonize it all. Combining and developing all these aspects simultaneously makes reaching the top a challenging endeavor, and those players who manage to do so can rightfully be called some of the most capable and motivated athletes overall. Squash is a sport that all sports enthusiasts should try at least once or twice, even if there’s no plan to get seriously involved. Try it precisely because it might be the right combination of fun and sport, and healthy body and mind for you too!

A healthy sport

This mainly comes from the fact that when playing squash, the entire body gets a very intense workout in a relatively short time, testing the player’s ability to control the racquet and ball, and the player’s overall endurance. Just as important is the player’s mental balance, because in addition to the need for immense concentration, it’s necessary to simultaneously monitor the opponent’s next moves. The game requires short quick sprints in many different directions alternating with slower play, which develops the player’s balance and coordination capabilities to new levels. In other words, it’s a very complex workout for all muscles, where you burn more calories in 30 minutes than in any other sport. This is why squash is considered one of the best sports for getting your body in athletic shape or maintaining that good shape.

Squash is an Olympic sport! Los Angeles 2028

Through squash, athletically ambitious players can set their sights on one of the ultimate goals – an Olympic medal.
Squash was selected for the first time for the 2028 Olympics, which will which will rapidly increase the popularity of squash and the opportunities to play the sport at a professional level.
